PhonerLite (ver 1.98) Freeware PhonerLite is a SIP softphone client. It allows you to make VoIP phone calls through your Internet Telephone Service Provider, if a microphone and headphone/speaker has been connected to your PC. The software includes an integrated phone book and call log. You can choose your ITSP, and even access the PSTN can through a specially configured SIP server (such as an Asterisk PBX). PhonerLite differs from Phoner, in that it does -not- use CAPI (i.e., it can not function as an ISDN phone). NOTE: This is (almost) the last Win2k version. [Be aware that there was a 1.99 and 2.00 version that still supported Win2k, but they came and went in just weeks, and apparently have been lost to history. The changes in each of these versions were very minor however.]
