Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (ver 6.6.38) Freeware BOINC is an Internet communicating program that allows your computer to engage in distributed scientific research projects during its idle time. Once you choose an available project, your computer in the background will download an assignment, process the data, then send the results back up to the server and download its next assignment. Make sure that the program can pass through any local firewalls (e.g. give Internet access to the files "boinc.exe" and "boincmgr.exe"). Participation by others has already lead to several important scientific discoveries and confirmations. NOTE: This is the last Win2k version (however, many projects do NOT require a more up-to-date version of BOINC in order to participate).
